Stripe payment links expire silently

Payment links time out after your first successful charge—most operators don’t notice until a customer complains.

The dashboard shows nineteen successful payments this month. One customer emails at 9 PM on a Thursday: “Your payment link isn’t working—tried three times.” You check the link you sent her two weeks ago. It loads. The checkout form renders. But when she clicks Pay, nothing happens.

Most operators assume payment links live forever. They don’t. After the first successful transaction, the link expires silently. No error message in your dashboard, no webhook, no alert. Just a dead URL that looks fine until someone tries to use it twice.

In today's email:

  • Payment links die after the first charge
  • Why reusable links still aren’t reusable
  • What actually survives multiple transactions
