Reddit's Ads API opened for solo operators

Reddit rolled out an Ads API that lets small teams automate campaign setup without agency minimums.

The coffee’s gone lukewarm in your mug, three browser tabs open to different ad platforms, and you’re trying to decide whether Reddit traffic is worth the manual work of building campaigns one subreddit at a time. For years, the answer was maybe—if you had time to click through the self-serve dashboard daily. If you wanted API access, you needed agency credentials or a five-figure monthly commitment.

That barrier just disappeared. Reddit quietly shipped an Ads API that gives solo operators the same programmatic access previously reserved for agencies. You can now script campaign creation, automate bid adjustments, pull performance data into your own dashboards, and target specific subreddits without opening the web interface. No minimum spend. No agency relationship required.

This changes the math for newsletter operators testing acquisition channels. Instead of manually duplicating ad sets across ten subreddits, you can write a script that clones structure, rotates creative, and pulls conversion data into the same spreadsheet you use for Facebook and TikTok. Instead of logging in daily to check spend, you can pull cost-per-subscriber into your existing BI tool and compare Reddit directly against your other paid channels.

The API supports campaign creation, audience targeting, budget pacing, and real-time reporting. You still need a Reddit Ads account—but now you can treat it like any other programmatic channel instead of a manual side project that never scales.
